Owasso will again be the site of the Oklahoma Championship Chili Cook-Off when the Owasso Harvest Festival Chili Cook-Off takes place at Centennial Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23rd.
Last year more than 50 chili teams gathered for the first Owasso Harvest Festival Chili Cook-Off which drew cooks from nine states and more than 3,000 chili fans.
Chili lovers can taste all of the chili teams’ entries, both for the International Chili Society competition and the People’s Choice Chili competition, by purchasing a tasting kit with the proceeds helping the Owasso High School Band make the trip to Pasadena, CA. to march in the Rose Parade in 2011.
The cook-off is held with the City of Owasso’s Harvest Festival which features bounce houses, hay rides, lots of “fair food”, beverages, live entertainment, costume and pumpkin carving contests and the popular Owasso Family YMCA Scarecrow contest and game tent.
There is no admission charge and parking is at the Owasso High School parking lot with shuttles running all day to Centennial Park. There is handicapped parking at the Park, plus trams to take people from the bus drop off at the Park around the pond to the cook-off and Harvest Festival site.
Vendors, many featuring chili-themed items, will be there along with the popular “Chili Dog” and “Little Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce” contests.
