Owasso City Council met Tuesday evening, September 4. Agenda Items included:
Construction update for the Tulsa Tech Owasso campus.
Kent Inouye, campus director, reported that construction is on schedule and completion should be around December and this will give them time to make sure everything is operating properly before students start the 2013 school year.
Mr. Inouye said they are still working on a full curriculum and hope to have it completed soon and feels the community will be pleased with what Tulsa Tech and TCC both have to offer.
Mr. Inouye also introduced Dr. Steve Tiger the new Superintendent of Tulsa Technology Center.
Annexation of Powderhorn Ranch:
City Manager Rodney Ray reported that he and city staff had met with about twenty-five to forty individuals from a neighboring development to answer questions or concerns they may have with future development on this property Mr. Ray went on record saying absolutely nothing will be done on this property until a complete Hydrology study is done and any zoning would have to include a Planned Unit Development (PUD). After a lengthy discussion and staff recommendation the annexation passed with a 3-2 Vote.
106th Street North & Garnett construction could start in late winter or early spring.
September 6th at 9:30am State Senator Rick Brinkley and other dignitaries will dedicate a stretch of highway 169 at 116th Street North in Honor of SPC Christopher Horton from Owasso who lost his life serving his country. Ceremony will take place in vacant lot east of Walgreens the public is welcome.
Block parties will be held Saturday September 6th across Owasso, there are twenty-two scheduled.
There is a a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for October 13th for the new Owasso Skate Park more details will be released at a later time.
