Owasso highway dedication will honor fallen soldier

Update: Sen. Rick Brinkley and Rep. David Derby at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 6, will help dedicate a section of US Highway 169 in Owasso, to honor the service and memory of Army Spc. Christopher D. Horton. Horton was killed in action in Afghanistan on Sept. 9, 2011, while assigned to the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Brigade Combat Team. 

Brinkley and Derby authored Senate Bill 1320, which designated U.S. Highway 169 from 106th Street North to 116th Street North the "Specialist Christopher D. Horton Memorial Highway". 

Brinkley and Derby will be joined at the ceremony by County Commissioner John Smaligo, Owasso Mayor Doug Bonebrake, members of the Horton family and many other officials.
