Owasso highway dedication will honor fallen soldier
Update: In the event of inclement weather, the dedication will be held at the banquet room of the Best Western Hotel, 7653 North Owasso Expressway. The decision to move the event indoors will be made at 10:00 a.m., Saturday.
Sen. Rick Brinkley and Rep. David Derby on Saturday, October 6, will help dedicate a section of US Highway 169 in Owasso, to honor the service and memory of Sgt. Schuyler B. Patch, of Owasso. Patch was killed in action in Afghanistan while assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry Regiment, 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of Kewanee, Illinois.
The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., at Tyann Plaza, 9455 Owasso Expressway Frontage Road, in Owasso. A meet-and-greet with the family of Sgt. Patch will be held at the Delta Café in Tyann Plaza after a christening ride down the highway.
Brinkley and Derby authored Senate Bill 1320, which designated U.S. Highway 169 from 86th Street North to 96th Street North the “Sergeant Schuyler B. Patch Memorial Highway”.
