Owasso, Okla – On Sunday, October 7, Rejoice church will begin a new sermon series titled, “Jesus for President”. The series will run at both the North and South Rejoice Church campuses during the month of October.
The series will focus on the Sermon on the Mount and seeks to capture Jesus’ words and encourage those in attendance to live those words out in their lives. While Jesus obviously isn’t running for president, he did give a clear picture of what he would say if he were a candidate. The Sermon on the Mount will be covered as a campaign speech that remains as relevant today as when it was delivered over 2,000 years ago.
“Over the next several weeks as we head toward the 2012 election, we know there are a lot of conversations about key issues that affect our nation. At Rejoice, we feel that Jesus is the ultimate communicator and He continues to speak to our real needs no matter what our current situation may be individually or collectively as a nation,” said Casey Cariker, senior pastor.
The series will cover Jesus’ inaugural address, defense policy, upside-down economy, and judicial system.
“It's our desire to highlight the greatest message ever spoken in a timely manner. From questions about forgiveness and judgmental attitudes to those who are oppressed, overlooked, and in need publicly or privately, Jesus offers real hope to each person,” shared Cariker.
All members of the community are invited to come and listen as Jesus campaigns for each of our hearts during this presidential season.
The sermon series will take place each Sunday in October at Rejoice Church. Sunday services at Rejoice North (13413 E. 106th St. N.) are at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and at Rejoice South (12200 E. 86th St. N.) are at 11:00 a.m. For more information visit rejoicechurch.com or on FACEBOOK.
