Morning accident on Hwy 169 leaves one dead, three injured

A huge backup occurred early Tuesday morning on Highway 169 between Owasso and Tulsa  after a fatal crash backed up traffic for miles.

The accident was first reported on Owassoisms Facebook page just before 7:00am, with readers reporting traffic backed up over 5 miles.

OHP states one person died in the wreck in the northbound lanes of 169 near 56th Street North.

The OHP says the crash happened just north of the Bird Creek bridge.

Reports are a person driving a pickup truck swerved to miss a tire in the road. The truck's tire went flat and the driver stopped. A Volkswagen traveling north , hit the back of the truck, and an SUV hit the back of the Volkswagen, according to OHP.

An occupant in the VW was killed. Three other people were hurt.
