OPD releases suspect name in Monday night abduction at PetSmart

OPD press release:
On Monday, October 15, 2012 at approximately 1911 hours, the Owasso Police Department responded to Petsmart, 9002 North 121st East Avenue, Owasso, Tulsa County, in reference to a possible kidnapping.
          Officers arrived on scene and after speaking to several witnesses, determined that an employee of Petsmart had been forcibly removed from the business.  Witnesses identified a white male suspect, approximately 6’02”, thin build, brown hair, wearing a short sleeve blue shirt, enter the store and approach the victim.  The suspect exited the store with the victim, forcing her into a silver vehicle and fled the parking area.  Witnesses further advised the victim and suspect knew each other. 
          Officers initiated a search of the vehicle and notified other agencies of the victim, suspect and vehicle information.  At approximately 2011 hours, the Owasso Police Department was notified that the suspect vehicle had crashed on Highway 11, four miles North of Highway 20 near Avant.  The victim was located and transported for medical treatment as a result of the crash.  The suspect fled the area into the Washington County area.  Owasso officers and several officers from surrounding agencies participated in a search for the suspect.  After an exhaustive search, it was determined to call off the search and seek out of custody charges against the suspect.  The suspect is identified as Michael Dale Nelson, age 28.
