Cherokee Nation food distribution center in Collinsville is open for business
COLLINSVILLE, Okla. – The Cherokee Nation broke ground on the tribe’s newest food distribution center in Collinsville on Wednesday. The 6,400 square-foot center is the seventh food distribution center for the tribe. It is located at 1025 North 12th Street in Collinsville, next to the Community Center.
This year, more than 100,000 Cherokee citizens in northeast Oklahoma visited the sites. Each center provides free, healthy grocery items to those who meet income guidelines, while allowing them to shop in a supermarket setting. The Collinsville food distribution center costed $600,000 to build, and is expected to double the number of families per month being served in the area.
