November Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Speaker-Dr. Rick Farmer, Assistant Insurance Commissioner
Dr. Rick Farmer, Assistant Insurance Commissioner, will be the featured speaker for the November 7, 2012 luncheon.
The Oklahoma Insurance Department is responsible for enforcing the insurance-related laws of the state. The department protects consumers by providing accurate, timely and informative insurance information. Additionally, it promotes a competitive marketplace and ensures solvency of the entities they regulate. The department also licenses and educate Insurance producers and adjusters, funeral home directors, bail bondsmen and real estate appraisers.
Dr. Rick Farmer grew up in Tahlequah, OK where he graduated from Tahlequah High School and NSU. Later, he received his PhD in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma. He earned tenure at the University of Akron (Ohio) where he was an associate professor of political science and a fellow in the Ray C. Bliss institute of Applied Politics. In 2004, he returned to Oklahoma to become the director of committee staff at the Oklahoma House of Representatives. In 2011, he joined Insurance Commissioner Doak's administration as assistant commissioner of government affairs, public policy and communications.

The Chamber Membership Luncheon will be held at the Bailey Education Foundation on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11:45 a.m. Cost is $10 per person.
