86th Street Road Project to be dedicated Friday

Christmas comes early for Owasso roadway travelers

Owasso, December 20, 2012: The City of Owasso will announce completion of the East 86th Street North Widening Project this morning at 10:00 AM at an event on 86th Street at the top of the hill between Mingo and Memorial. The announcement will be followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and a dedication from Owasso Mayor Doug Bonebrake Tulsa County Commissioner John Smaligo.

The project was a collaborative effort between Tulsa County, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the City of Owasso. Improvements made during the project include a 1.5 mile new four-lane roadway, drainage enhancements, curb and gutter installation, retaining wall additions, and sidewalk installation. This project commenced eight months ago and sections of this roadway have been closed to the public since April 2012.

Tulsa County, ODOT and the City of Owasso are proud to announce the opening of two lanes of this project from Mingo to Memorial allowing drivers to enjoy the improvements prior to the upcoming holidays. The remaining two lanes along this mile stretch and traffic signalization located at the East 86th Street North and Memorial Intersection is anticipated to be open and operational by December 31st 2012.
