New Roles for Rejoice Staff Members

2012 was a year full of growth and change for Rejoice Church.  To accommodate the growing church family and needs of the community, two staff members have moved into new roles within the church.  Michelle Hayes has accepted the position of Director of Next Steps and RaDawn Anderson is now the Director of the Early Childhood Ministry.

Our lead pastor, Casey Cariker, describes Michelle’s new role as Director of Next Steps with an acronym – GAME.  G – groups which help reproduce disciples,  A – assimilation of new families into the life of Rejoice,  M – missions as we seek to reach boldly those who have never heard the good news of Jesus,  E – equipping people to use their spiritual gifts in order to advance the Kingdom through the local church.

“I’m looking forward to serving alongside all generations and be laser like focused in doing my part, by God’s grace, to lead all generations of our neighbors and nations to follow Jesus,” Michelle shared.

This new role for Michelle follows her leadership in the Early Childhood Ministry.  Michelle became the director of the ECM in 2004.

“I took over an amazing ministry from the legacy of Ruth Pope and Noell Jones.  They laid the groundwork for me to continue sharing the basics of the Gospel with young children in very tangible ways,” she said.

During her time in the ECM, Michelle developed curriculum that points children to the three core truths of the ECM, God made me, God loves me, I will obey Him.  She also developed relationships with hundreds of families and celebrated milestones such as child dedication and salvation.

Although she is moving out of the ECM, she is leaving the ministry in the capable hands of RaDawn Anderson.
Anderson Family

RaDawn Anderson joined the Rejoice staff in 2010. She has been working as the director of the Rejoice South Campus, recruiting volunteers and managing Sunday morning staffing for classrooms, preparing the curriculum and being a friendly face for South Campus families.  In her new role, RaDawn will oversee all aspects of the Early Childhood Ministry.

"I’m most looking forward to getting to know families at both the North and South Campuses and continue the legacy of advancing the kingdom through the local church one child at a time,” RaDawn shared.

RaDawn’s passion for children and the Early Childhood Ministry began years before she joined the staff. Even when she and her husband, Wade, did not have children yet, they volunteered as Vacation Bible School leaders starting in 1995. Her first volunteer experience at Rejoice was also for Vacation Bible School in 2008 right after moving to Owasso.

“I love VBS. It is a total submersion into Jesus and his teachings.   The kids are so excited because everything they do for an entire week is about Jesus: singing, dancing, storytelling, crafts, and games all point to Jesus,” she said. “I wish everyday felt like VBS.”

RaDawn will use her gifts of serving others, hospitality, and organization as she leads the ECM. On any given Sunday, at least 30+ volunteers are needed to teach the children of Rejoice. Her gifts will serve her well as recruits volunteers, making the parents and kids feel comfortable in the ministry, and encouraging volunteer leaders to share the gospel all while connecting with families.

RaDawn and Michelle look forward to their new roles and are excited to see God use them, and the rest of the staff, as Rejoice continues to serve and grow in 2013.
