Reasor's Stores Incorporate the NuVal System to Make Nutrition Easy as 1....2....3

Comparing apples to apples just got much easier at Reasor's. The Oklahoma based grocery store has recently introduced the NuVal® Nutritional Scoring System in its 17 locations throughout Northeastern Oklahoma.

The system is designed to  help customers cut through confusing nutritional information to make decisions about food quickly and easily by combining comprehensive nutritional information in one simple number between 1 and 100. The higher the score, the more nutritious the food. A visit to the Reasor's location on 86th Street in Owasso showed most foods in the store have already received the NuVal rating, although Manager Dean Kern confirms the project will not be fully complete until mid-February.

NuVal shows a big nutritional difference in these two snacks
We received a tour of the store and were surprised by the difference in NuVal rating between seemingly similar products. Mr. Kern noted that while people with special dietary needs, like food allergies or sodium sensitivity, will still need to read product labels, the system offers a snapshot view of overall health value.
The NuVal Scores are right where you shop. Just look for the NuVal logo on shelf tags throughout the store, so you can compare overall nutrition the same way you compare price. The NuVal Scores made it easy to find more nutritious alternatives in nearly every department and aisle in the store.
The NuVal System was developed by an independent panel of nutrition and medical experts from leading universities and health organizations. The panel was led by Dr. David Katz, MD, of the Yale Griffin Prevention Research Center. No food or beverage manufacturers or special interest groups had any influence on developing NuVal or its scores.

Mr. Kern says Reasor's incorporated the NuVal System in an effort to help customers make informed decisions about health and nutrition in a quick and convenient way. Although every food product will receive the NuVal Score, items new to the marketplace may see a slight delay as the product is evaluated and place in the NuVal System.

Shoppers we spoke to said they are very likely to use the rating system and found the new tool easy to use. For more information on the NuVal System, visit
