Owasso Residents gift OPD 30 new precision rifles

Today, the Owasso Police Department received a donation of over $30,000 for the purchase of (30) Colt 45 M4 Carbine Rifles with flashlight mounts and flashlights.
Lynn and Barbara Owens of Owasso presented the check of $30,725 to the Owasso Police Department, who they have been working with since October on their needs and what works best.
The Owens stated that they believe in "Give Where You Live" and knew the rifles where on the Owasso Police Department wish list. They helped them achieve that wish now rather than later. Mr. Owens stated he hopes it is a gift that never gets used, but is there if needed.
The rifles will be ordered in early February, and will arrive depending on availability. Training will occur before officers will carry them.

Patrol Officers and School Resource officers will be assigned the rifles. Many of the officers receiving the rifles are on the SWAT team so they will serve the dual purpose of being used on SWAT and patrol.
