TULSA, OK – The Leta M. Chapman Breast Center at Hillcrest Medical Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The Chapman Breast Center at Hillcrest is one of only four breast care centers in Oklahoma to be named a BICOE by the ACR, a designation awarded to less than 10% of breast centers nationwide.
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
“Earning this designation is an honor for the Chapman Breast Center,” said Robert Streight, Medical Director of the Chapman Breast Center. “It demonstrates that the imaging services we provide are of the highest quality, giving our patients and physicians the information needed to result in the best possible medical outcome.”
The breast imaging services at the Chapman Breast Center at Hillcrest are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
“Our dedicated team of healthcare providers has built a breast care program to offer patients a convenient and comprehensive facility for their breast health needs,” said Laurie Flynn, MD, Surgical Director of the Chapman Breast Center and Breast Surgeon with Utica Park Clinic. “Being named a Breast
Imaging Center of Excellence assures our community that we are a trusted and proven leader for breast health.”
