Grow and bloom a garden and your community involvement at the same time with the Owasso Community Garden

Area gardeners will have an opportunity to enjoy the thrill of gardening as well as receive free gardening classes at the Owasso Community Center located at 301 South Cedar Street.  

Doug Worley from Worley’s Nursery will be providing three FREE classes for area gardeners.  The classes will run 7 pm – 8 pm and topics are as follows:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 19    "Preparing Your Garden Soil"  - Square foot and container gardening, soil preparation, soil testing, fertilizers.
  • Tuesday, Mar. 19    "Planning Your Vegetable Garden" - When, what and how. Good Oklahoma plant and seed varieties.
  • Thursday, Apr.  11    "Growing Tomatoes" - all things tomatoes, heirlooms, grafted.

Worley’s will be providing give away prizes in the form of coupons that can be redeemed at the Nursery during the growing season.

For area residents who become members of the Owasso Community Garden, this year a community garden orientation meeting will be held Saturday, February 9 at 10 am – 11 am at the Center. Individuals or families in the community who are interested in joining the community garden may visit the garden located south of the Center, participate in the orientation and complete their paperwork. The garden consists of 47 – 4 x 8 raised bed gardens including an American Disabilities Act bed. Interested gardeners complete a garden application and pay $6 per year gardening fees.
