These are tough times and a tough economy for everyone but Thompson’s General Store is reaching out to the community to help local pet rescue groups and Wild Heart Ranch.  Beginning on February 1 Thompson’s has several pet foods, livestock feeds and supplies that will be on special.  Customers are invited to take advantage of the discounts for their own pets and/or to purchase products that will be given to the rescue group of their choice.

In addition to the special pricing, a WILD LIFE PICTURE CONTEST begins February 1.  Submit your photo via their Facebook page, by mail or bring them to Thompson's General Store at 10010 N. Garnett Road, Owasso.  There are two categories:  Original Photographs and Original Art which includes drawings or paintings.  There are two divisions within each category:  under 12 years of age as of January 1, 2013 and over 12 years of age as of January 1, 2013.  Pictures taken or created prior to January 1, 2013 are eligible for the contest.  All pictures will be judged for originality, composition and reality. All entries will be posted on our Facebook page.  Winners will be announced on Saturday, February 16 at 3:00 pm.  Prizes will be awarded for 3 places in each category and division.

Saturday, February 16 is designated as HAVE A HEART FOR WILD LIFE in honor of Wild Heart Ranch located in Claremore.  Started in 1996, with her partner Sandy Brooks, Annette and her dedicated staff have rescued, nursed back to health and released over 13,000 wild animals.  Her mission is clear, to heal the helpless, set them free and educate people about the wild things that live around here.  "This is an amazing woman who has dedicated the last 17 years to saving creatures who can’t save themselves”, said Stevie Thompson, owner of Thompson’s General Store in Owasso.

Items needed for Wild Heart Ranch include: corn chops, sweet feed, crimped oats, chopped alfalfa, hay, canned and dry dog food, canned cat food, feed buckets, feed scoops, heated buckets and bowls, pet bowls, water troughs, wild bird food, heat lamps, poultry feed, bird feeders, paper towels and bath towels.
